Mascot Shera

Shera has been chosen as the official mascot of the 19th Commonwealth Games to be held in Delhi, India in 2010. Shera is a Royal Bengal Tiger wearing a white sporting jersey and blue shorts.

He was first introduced to the world at the Closing Ceremony of the Melbourne Commonwealth Games, when he invited all those present to come and participate in the Commonwealth Games Delhi 2010.

As the true representative of India, Shera embodies values that the nation is proud of: majesty, courage, power and grace. He is also a reminder of the fragile environment he lives in.

The Royal Bengal Tiger is the national animal of India. It is also an endangered species because of its vulnerability to habitat loss, poaching and environmental degradation.

Shera is the most visible face of the Commonwealth Games Delhi 2010, its key icon, and exhorts all citizens of India – young and old – to ‘Come Out and Play,’ to participate proactively in making the Games a huge success.
